Welcome! We are so glad that you are interested in attending our conference. EYH is fun for allfemale-identified & gender non-conforming students , even if you don't like math, art or science in school. This isn't school. You have the opportunity to interact one-on-one with real female-identified & gender non-conforming individuals who work as veterinarians, biologists, astronomers, geologists, chefs, civil engineers, paramedics, coroners, therapists, audiologists, highway engineers, astrophysicists, land surveyors, architects, and more!
How does EYH work? EYH is organized by a group of volunteers from around Thurston County. We strive to recruit talented female-identified & gender non-conforming individuals to serve as your mentors in each session. Once we have determined who is presenting, we publish a brochure that is passed out to schools, libraries, and other public places. From this brochure, you pick the classes you'd like to attend. On the day of the conference, meet us in the Student Union Bldg (Bldg # 27) on South Puget Sound Community College's campus (directions and maps here). Please arrive at 9:00 am to check in and receive your goody bag and session assignments. We will have a brief welcome ceremony, then you will go to your first of three sessions. Don't worry about getting lost - you have a campus map in your bag, and there are many volunteers who would love to point you in the right direction. You'll attend two 50-minute sessions then return to the Student Union Bldg (Bldg # 27) for a snack break (remember to eat breakfast before you come--you are also welcome to bring your own brown bag lunch). After the third session, make sure you come back to the Student Union Bldg (Bldg # 27) for the exciting Mainstage conclusion. EYH encourages you to make clear arrangements with your parent/guardian regarding transportation plans. Please be picked up promptly at 2:10 p.m.
Too old? Nonsense! Just because you've graduated from 8th grade doesn't mean that you can't be involved in EYH anymore! We welcome high school and college students, alumna or not, to assist us on the day of the conference. Sound interesting? Get the specifics here.
